LISOF and SAFW collaborate to produce Spring/Summer 2011 Trend Report
LISOF and SAFW collaborate to produce Spring/Summer 2011 Trend Report
True to its vision, SA Fashion Week promotes the ‘Business of Fashion’. At the helm of development in the local industry for the past fourteen years, SAFW has shown consistent commitment to forging a viable, thriving South African fashion community. Investing in young talent and nurturing industry newcomers is core to the SAFW manifesto. It comes then as no surprise that SAFW has extended an opportunity to selected LISOF students to produce the first SAFW Trend Report – an essential guide to industry experts detailing key trends and design directions for the Spring/Summer 2011 season.
Since opening its doors in 1993, LISOF has earned the reputation of being the most progressive fashion school on the continent. With a host of successful past graduates including Tiaan Nagel, Stephen Quatember and Tony Mestre, LISOF’s commitment to nurturing students and honouring their individual signatures is unmistakable. First-hand work experience and exposure to the realities of a job in the fashion industry is a key component in the way LISOF equips their students for life after graduation. For these reasons, it gives us great honour to partner with SAFW to provide our students with a glimpse at the inner workings of our local industry at an event of this nature.
The SAFW Spring/Summer Trend Report will dissect the colours, fabrics, silhouettes, key items and street fashion on show at the event. The report will be an invaluable tool to buyers, journalists and members of the local fashion community who require a detailed overview of style directions for the upcoming season.
The team of students who will compile this report represents our diverse and talented student population across both LISOF campuses (Rosebank and Hatfield). Kagiso Mothibatsela, Michiel Van Staden, Carla Pieterse, Sinazo Tshayana, Jessica Nossel and Danayi Chapika will be attending all shows, frantically taking notes, snapping photos and soaking up the ambience of the three-day event in order to create a truly insightful trend report.
The SAFW Spring/Summer Trend Report will be published on the SAFW blog from Monday 18 April 2011 and will be available on the LISOF website 5 April.
