The LISOF BA Honours in Fashion is a Post-graduate learning programme that will provide you with intensive and focused specialisation in Fashion. The course has been developed by leaders in fashion and retail with a view to giving you the most progressive and relevant education in the business.

The focus of this programme is applied research (i.e. research in action) in order to solve real ‘problems’ that exist in the field (work integrated learning) If you are considering a strictly academic piece of research you will be allowed to pursue this avenue as well. Alongside building your research capacity, this programme deepens a theoretical and practical understanding of your specialisation choice in Fashion. Work-Integrated learning is of utmost importance to this course therefore you will be exposed to retail partners to work a period of time with, to learn in the field knowledge. Selected students will receive a stipend while they intern at various retailers around South Africa and selected students will have the opportunity to work in London (optional) as part of their experiential learning.

Experiential Learning Opportunities:
• Students spend between 3 to 5 months working at a local retailer.
• Students are provided with an option to work for a London retailer for two weeks, provided that they attend and complete the post-graduate four week study programme at the Fashion Retail Academy in London.

Course Outline:
• This qualification allows learners to focus on a specific area of the total fashion industry and to develop critical, higher-order cognitive skills in order to meet the challenges and demands of their chosen area of specialisation.



  • Must have successfully completed a 360 credit (minimum) undergraduate Bachelor’s qualification, in any field. (NQF level 7)
  • Qualification must be registered by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).
  • The learner must have achieved an average grade of 65% or higher at the exit level of the undergraduate programme.
  • The undergraduate qualification must have been awarded by an accredited institution in South Africa.



LISOF courses are accredited by the Council on Higher Education. LISOF’s full-time programmes are registered on the South African Qualifications Authority’s (SAQA) National Qualifications Framework (NQF). LISOF is registered with the Department of Education as a private higher education institution under the Higher Education Act, 1997 (Registration Certificate No. 2002/HE07/002). LISOF is a member of the Association of Private Providers of Education, Training & Development. LISOF is the only fashion institution in South Africa that has an affiliation with FRA (Fashion Retail Academy) in London.
